in ancestral environments one can be punished for having preferences outside the norm, such as really really liking firm crunchy unripe peaches. i would eat all of them from the tree before anyone else thinks they're ready and i'd be rightfully killed for this. yet another w for modernity and cold chains (you can't kill me for having this belief)
